#TECStories – Stefana Berenghia

We keep on celebrating #PeopleOfTEC through some amazing storytelling exercises! Today, you’re going to know more about our awesome colleague, Stefana!

I grew up in a small mountain city, surrounded by fir tree forests and wildlife, spending most of my childhood with fresh cold air on my face wondering around for berries and mushrooms.  As you can imagine, I am a mountain girl more than a seaside person, brought up by an outdoorsy family.

One of the most important figures in my upbringing was my grandfather who kind of nudged me into the technical world. He was crazy in love with his Fiat car and he used to tell me about his analogical computer board in our roadtrips to fire my curiosity. Years later, that childhood fascination for buttons and lights got me to my first job where I happened to develop a FIAT’s computer board. This would have totally thrilled my grandfather but sadly he passed away a few years earlier.

Crafting and the world of DIY is one of the things that makes me bubble. As a developer , I have to meet tight deadlines, but when I switch to my world of crafting, “loose” is the norm. I like making bracelets, bookmarks and a lot of other tiny things – infinite possibilities of color and pattern combination allow me to drift off and relax.

Another thing you should know about me is that I am an undercover cat. This explains why I might strike you as a bit antisocial at the beginning and why I often get overly excited about glittering lights, yarn and comfy corners.  As you may have guessed by now, I do have a cat – Shadow, who is an adopted 3-colour stray cat. I will always prefer a reading session, curled up in a blanket with my cat, over an evening out with people. However, don’t hold back from pinging me if you need a partner for coffee or a chat as I come alive around people. As the furry felines I love so much, I easily get intrigued and curious by the new.
